The Three Shadows Photography Art Centre, in collaboration with Xiaohongshu Photography as the “Premium Discovery Partner, ” jointly launched the 2023 Jimei x Arles Discovery Award. Artist Liu Guangli, nominated by curator Chen Min, received the 2023 “Jimei x Arles Special Jury Mention Award” for the exhibition Katabasis.

Liu Guangli's work also received accolades from the jury. Grounded in a reflection on anthropocentrism, Liu Guangli's work scrutinizes the politics underpinning various human  image productions like classical painting, entertainment image production, AI image  generation, and the enduring themes of 'imagination' and 'belief' inherent in image creation. In the current AI-dominated landscape, his utilization of this new cartographic tool prompts introspection about its role within image generation mechanisms, showcasing a notably commendable depth and dimension of thought.
