Jimei x Arles Book Exhibition

Photobooks, as the influential media of presentation and creation, have received increasing attention in recent years. Books break down the temporal and spatial barriers of presenting photography, while retaining the warm, smooth materiality. In front of the prevalence of the electronic and fragmented reading, photobooks will bring us a completely different experience, where each book is a self-contained world, a feast that flows on paper.

 

Space on Paper - Jimei x Arles Book Exhibition was established in 2021. Each year, we hold open call for photobooks and publications. This year, we have selected more than 50 photographic books, including photobooks, handmade books and theoretical books, from nearly 200 submissions. We aim to present a more comprehensive and diversified scheme for the development of photographic publications in China in the past two years, to promote outstanding photobook creators and publishing institutions and to establish a platform for the display of photographic publications.

Li Zijian was born in Shandong in 1996 and now lives and works in Xiamen.

 He received his Master's degree in Global Media Communication from the University of Melbourne, Australia in 2020. He is currently the director of the Three Shadows Library and is engaged in photography theory research and curation.
