Three Shadows invite artists to come live and work inside our Ai Weiwei-designed grounds in a quiet corner of Beijing. Residents are encouraged to design a unique plan for their staythis could mean designing new commissions, collaborating with other artists in Beijing, or teaching workshops in the area. Although the artist-in-residence (AIR) program is primarily tailored to photographers. Three Shadows also gladly accepts artists working in other media, as well as researchers and curators interested in living and working in China.
 
Three Shadows offers artists three different kinds of living quartersall of varying size and price. Every room has AC, a bathroom, and free wireless Internet, and artists have access to a common artist-in-residence kitchen and a laundry room, as well as a host of facilities at Three Shadows.
 
The size of the entire Three Shadows complex is 2,500 square meters. It contains an exhibition hall, a courtyard, a cafe, a bookstore, a multi-purpose room for lectures or seminars, a commercial gallery, and a state-of-the-art professional publishing house.
 
Applicants must submit a short form to qiyan@threeshadows.cn with subject head "AIR Program" detailing their basic information and their requested accommodation along with a CV, a portfolio, a plan for their stay, a letter of recommendation, and any other materials they think pertinent.
