The exhibition On Method , presented by Three Shadows Photography Art Centre together with the Goethe-Institut China, opened in Beijing on August 8th, 2015. Candida Höfer, who studied photography under Bernd Becher at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, took part in the “documenta” in 2001 and represented Germany at the Venice Biennale in 2003 together with Martin Kippenberger. She is one of the most well-known female artists working with photography.
The exhibition On Method was the first comprehensive public display of her work in China and gives us an insight into the development and diversity of her photographic working methods. Within this framework, it was also the first exhibition that presented and compared her earlier and recent works from China. In addition, some of her very early works, classic portraits of interiors as well as projections and her latest works from the series Nahaufnahmen were also on display.
