“2019 the 11thThree Shadows Photography Award (Xiamen) (duration: June 22 - August 18)” successfully opened on June 22 at Three Shadows Xiamen.
The 11thThree Shadows Photography Award has begun the second “decade”, It has entered a new stage of development with three prizes awarded on this competition. The winner of this year’s Three Shadows Photography Award is a duo – Liu Ke and Huang Huang, both from Chengdu, who received an 80,000 RMB prize. Zhang Lanpo won the Media Award, and Wang Yingying took away the TSPA Luo Bonian Award for Outstanding Photographer, which comes with 10,000 RMB.
The three winners also came to Three Shadows and introduced their artistic works and creation process to Xiamen audiences in the opening ceremony.
There are six other outstanding shortlisted artists—Hu Yajing, Li Lin, Liu Shutong, Lu Shan, Xu Sijie, Zhou Yulong came to the exhibition during the opening ceremony.
All the artists shared and communicated with over 100 audiences in front of their works. In the following two conversations after the opening ceremony, artists and audiences had a deeper discussion on art and photography.
On June 22 at 3:30 p.m., Liu Ke & Huang Huang, Lu Shan, Wang Yingying shared their work and the creative story behind them. This event was held by Three Shadows and Tu Chong Open see. The audience also seized the opportunity of this lecture, raised their own questions, and discussed with the artists.
On the afternoon of June 23, Three Shadows Xiamen Photography Art Centre invited Hu Yajing, Li Lin, Xu Sijie, Zhang Lanpo and Zhou Yulong, who were shortlisted in the 2019 Three Shadows Photography Award to share their works and creative ideas. The artists shared their experiences with the audience from different angles such as artistic creation, commercial photography, photography education, and personal experience. Finally, they discussed different questions from with the audience.
