2012:

This year we were honored to welcome artists for residencies at Three Shadows Photography Art Center:  Katherine Langly (Belgium), Ken Kitano (Japan), Kate Woods (New Zealand), and Carina Hesper (The Netherlands).


 


2014:

Holten, a Danish artist, finished her AIR program in June of 2014. On the Saturday of June 21, Holten held her exhibition, “Building on Show” in FlickingForehead Space on Dajingchang Hutong, a street in Beijing, by installing there her art work she made in Three Shadows. Earlier on 27th of April (2014), an event titled "Tang Jing and Sofie Holten's talk” was held. In this event open to public, Holten engaged in a conversation with Tang at ThreeShadows Library

 

Sascha explores photographic art and finds new energy in different visual culture during artist-in-residency programs in Sydney, Kyoto, Beijing, etc.. During his two-month stay, he’s been photographing and creating new ideas. He has photographed over 6000 photos and several videos in Beijing. This was the first time he presented to audience.

 

Imants Gross (1953) was raised in a Latvian refugee family in Sweden. He went to high school in Germany and studied law at the University of Stockholm and the University of Brussels. His professional career has been within international relations and diplomacy in European and Africa. From 1991 until 1996, Imants was Latvia’s ambassador to Sweden and Norway. For the past

seven years, he has lived in Riga where, since 2006, he has run the Nordic Council of Ministers’ office in Latvia. Imants’ grandfather, Miķelis Gross (1886-1966), was a photographer who was active in Latvia and St. Petersburg. He inspired his grandson early in life to take up photography. Imants has gained professional skills in photography at courses and work shops in Germany, Sweden, Latvia and France (with Gunars Janaitis, Göran Segeholm, Aaron Schuman, Anders Petersen, Arno Minkkinen, JH Engström).




2015

April-June

Rikke Ehlers Nilsson

Danish artist Rikke Ehlers Nilsson went deep into Beijing and developed her art works during her three month residency. This artist was supported by the Danish Cultural Institute.



May-June

Nicholas Verso

Nicholas Verso is a writer, filmmaker, director and editor who has worked in film and television. His short film  The Last Time I Saw Richard  won several awards, including Best Short Film at the 2014 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards. Nicholas explores dark themes in his work in the hope of uncovering something beautiful lurking within the shadows and bringing it to light. At Three Shadows Photography Art Centre Nicholas developed, wrote and storyboarded a new fantasy feature film script. He also researched robotics in creating design prototypes for the film. This artist was supported by Asialink.



July-August

Ken Kitano

Japanese artist Ken Kitano came to Three Shadows this summer. It was his third time as an artist-in-residence. He developed his most recent works in Three Shadows’ darkroom during his stay.



September-October

Bruno Baltzer and Leonora Bisagno

Artists Bruno Baltzer and Leonora Bisagno spent 6 weeks at Three Shadows Photography Art Centre. They participated in 2015 Beijing Design Week  I LOVE HUTONGS and had a talk "OFF THE BEATEN TRACK" at Three Shadows. The artists were supported by the Embassy of Luxembourg in China.
